Williamsburg Walk-up

A NEW YORK APARTMENT FIT FOR A GROWING FAMILY TO LIVE, WORK, AND PLAY.

The story of this apartment decoration started when our client called looking for an interior designer for the design of their home in SoHo. When an unwelcome relocation surprise occurred, they had to pivot to find a new place but as luck would have it, a beautiful light filled apartment in Williamsburg found their way to them.

Our goal was to help the couple create a home, their first home together after getting married. Given that the space was a rental, we wanted to find pieces that not only told their story but would be items they could take with them when they moved from home to home. That idea was put to the test when they received word that they would have to vacate their home in SoHo and find a new space.

One is a documentary film maker and one holds a corporate job but both work at home at different times during the week. While the new apartment had more space, each room has to do double duty to accommodate both working and living. In the midst of the move, they found out they were expecting, a wonderful blessing now that they had an extra bedroom. The pieces we had collected for the last apartment moved seamlessly to the new one and we added a few extra for the new addition.

Earth tones mixed with fun patterns and warm woods help to contrast the sunny light. City views with trees lined streets are an added benefit to Brooklyn living and windows on both sides of the apartment amplify this perk.

The couple wanted the apartment to feel calming, a respite from the busy life of the city. Mixing in personal travel photos, select antiques, and collected art help the apartment feel like home. With another baby on the way, the couple recently bought a home in Connecticut and we will once again move their collected furnishings to a new home.
